Prototype is a high contrast greyscale skin with orange highlighting for WindowBlinds XP. This is my first WindowBlinds skin so all feedback on problems/bugs are GREATLY appreciated.

Installation
Requirements
Windowblinds is a Windows program that will handle all the skinning. The icon package is called MiniumXP and requires IconPackager to run.
Windowblinds Package
Simply double click to open the package and windowblinds will automatically install the skin. A tool tip will appear notifying you that a new skin was installed. Click the tool tip to apply the skin.
Alternatively:
- Bring up the Windowblinds Configuration screen
- Select the skin and apply changes
Icon package
This file contains the icons seen in the skin screenshots and requires Stardock IconPackager to run.
FAQ
- Will there be a version for VS/MsStyle?
Yes! I’m working on this at the moment. - Will this work with Vista?
I’ve had a couple reports the taskbar/start menu doesn’t skin correctly. Looking into it. - Will there be more colours other than orange for the highlight?
In the future I may add a couple of the most popular requested colours. - Why won’t some of the fonts special characters display?
The fonts don’t include them! Download alternatives and use windowblinds to override existing ones. - Why are there strange shadows on the start menu?
This is a Windows menu shadow which doesn’t need to be activated while using the skin. Right click on ‘My Computer’ and select ‘Properties.’ On the ‘Advanced’ tab click performance ’settings’ button and uncheck ‘Show shadows under menus.’

Thank you very much for a most excellent skin! Very elegant and consistent. Of all the skins its my favorite.
However it has one problem: it doesn’t display Russian fonts correctly in the window titles and file names and details (in fact there’s nothing in place of letters). I wonder if, when you consider updating your skin, you could look into resolving this issue?

hey.. great theme…. however i would really really like it released as a microsoft visual style….. many other ppl also want this as this would eliminate the need for windowsblinds.. which A costs money and B uses up plenty of memory..

What can I say, I just love this skin, only little thing I have with it, is when you minimize a window, let’s say “Explorer”, why is there a gray square around the icon in the taskbar button for the minimized windows?
Hope I explained myself clearly, other than that, my fav. skin at the moment.

why is there a gray square around the icon in the taskbar buttonThe ‘grey square’ in the taskbar button is intentional. I did this because the program icon extended beyond the border of the taskbar button and didn’t align right. If anyone knows a windows solution to stop the 1px text/icon shift when you click a taskbar button, please let me know.

It looks as if you have windowblinds overriding the fonts defined in the theme. You need to try the following:
If that didn’t fix the problem, double check if you have ‘HaxrCorp’ and ‘Kroeger’ font in ‘C:\Windows\Fonts’. If not then copy them from ‘your-drive:\your-path-to-windowblinds\Prototype’ to that directory.

but i found the reason: windowblinds probably used the wrong font cause i got few kroeger tt fonts with same filename. now all works fine

I have a problem with fonts.
I did as you said in the FAQ, but no way :/
There are special chars such as ÿ Ê Û … for apostrophes, before colon “:”, for spaces… That shows it especially for the Alt (When you stay on a file to see more information), and in the details mod for folders (there are these chars on numbers).
Please Help me I’m gettting mad

I’m guessing you are the person that also emailed me about using the font to display French? You can try to set you language to English to verify if something is wrong with the font file.
It looks like the author of the font may have placed some characters in the wrong place though. If I can get permission I will modify the font.
Another option is to use the “Volter (Goldfish)” font which is very similar.

Don’t suppose you could do a WMP skin for the taskbar or know of one? If I use the WMP in the taskbar it messes up the skin.
